A traditional winemaking region, Meursault is home to a vast array of Burgundy's wineries. Situated on a pre-historic settlement, the old Roman Fort ruins are still visible on the hill above the village known by locals only as "La Montagne." Meursault is also home to the international wine event Le Paulee de Meursault. 

Le Charmelieu is located in the center of Meursault in a 200 year old property that includes a “Gite” (rental home) that is attached to a cuverie (tank room), where Michael makes his Maison Shaps Burgundy wines.
